merced avenue linear park

The City of El Monte has completed the construction of a linear park located in the median along Merced Avenue, between Towneway Drive and Garvey Avenue. This park enhances safety, accessibility, and comfort for all road users, including individuals with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. It features dedicated spaces for running, walking, and cycling, complemented by landscaping, play areas, and seating to enrich the community’s recreational opportunities.
The Merced Avenue Stormwater Capture Project is an investment in sustainability, mobility, and community well-being. This project will create a new bike and walking path connecting Merced Avenue Linear Park to the Rio Hondo Bike Path, providing a safe and scenic route for pedestrians and cyclists.

In addition to improving connectivity, the project will enhance stormwater management by incorporating an underground drainage system and landscaping designed to absorb and filter water naturally. This will help improve local water quality while supporting a greener, healthier environment.
